What are you choosing to believe that is not serving you?

When I was being coached this week, I thought that I was just stating the facts when I told my coach "I am not making any headway" in my goal to eliminate sugar from my diet.

She asked, "why are you choosing to believe that you are not making headway?"

My brain froze for a minute.

I know this work.

My clients get results when I teach them this work.

And I still have to be reminded how this is playing out in my own head.

This is ALWAYS a good sign btw. I want a coach who can help me challenge my thoughts. Because I know that nothing will change as long as I keep thinking the same things.

Her question allowed me to shift out of self-judgement into curiosity.

Just like that, I could see all of the ways that I have made headway.

  • I have significantly cut back

  • When I remember to use them, the tools work

  • I have to give myself credit because I haven't quit trying

And of course, when I have a thought that I am making headway, I am more motivated to keep moving forward, track my urges, use my urge interruption technique and craving hack. And no shocker here, but I make even more headway. In fact, I haven't had any sugar since that shift in perspective from the coaching!

How to take this work deeper

  1. Where are you doing this in your life?

  2. What if you stopped telling yourself that you should be doing better? If that feels impossible, just try it for one day, or even one hour.

  3. What difference do you think that would make for you if "allowed" yourself to be a beginner for as long as it takes?

I would love to know what comes up for you when you spend a little time with these questions.

Or

If you haven't already, I encourage you to take me up on my offer and book your free coaching session. During the call, not only will you have the opportunity to confidentially talk with someone who understands where you are, but I will help you to:

  • articulate exactly what you want your drinking to look like

  • identify what stands in the way

  • brainstorm solutions on how to overcome these obstacles and get to your goal

Do it today and you will be that much closer to trusting yourself to drink exactly what you want, when you want.

You don't have to have a drinking problem to have a problem with the effects that you get from drinking more than you want.

Wishing you a great weekend!

Take care,

Caroline

PS- Here is a testimonial that I received from a client this morning.

"Working with Caroline changed my approach to stopping drinking. Not sure how she did it, but a lot of the stress and struggle seemed to dissipate as she has a unique, but practical approach that focused on learning to trust myself and in creating a life that I want to live. She guided me through a lot of emotional housekeeping that provided me with strategies that work. Best of all, she is an intuitive, wise and caring coach. Can’t recommend her enough."

For anyone on the fence about if this coaching stuff really works, it does. My clients get results.

Are you going to be ready to be next? It starts with a call.

PPS - Here is a podcast interview that I did with Hunter McFall that just came out today. We had a great conversation and I hope that you enjoy it!
